The Union of Skills in Action training is a comprehensive professional development programme designed to support teachers and educators in teaching the European Union (EU) in a more effective, inclusive, and innovative way. The course aims to equip participants with EU values, active citizenship awareness, multicultural classroom management skills, and 21st-century learning competencies through a holistic approach.

The programme focuses particularly on collaborative learning, game-based instruction, student-centred pedagogies, and inclusive classroom practices that embrace diversity. By engaging in activities that combine theory and practice, participants will learn creative and meaningful ways to increase students’ awareness of European citizenship and to teach EU-related content in motivating and engaging ways.

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Access and interpret authentic EU learning environments by engaging directly with EU institutions and civic spaces in Brussels, strengthening their understanding of how EU values and policies operate in practice.
  • Transform real EU institutional experiences into classroom-ready learning activities, using game-based, experiential, and student-centred methodologies to teach EU citizenship and democratic participation.
  • Apply inclusive and multicultural teaching approaches inspired by real Brussels-based EU learning contexts, ensuring equitable access to EU education for learners with diverse linguistic, cultural, and educational backgrounds.
  • Promote active European citizenship and civic engagement through simulations, role-plays, and inquiry-based tasks grounded in real EU decision-making processes and institutional practices.
  • Design innovative EU teaching scenarios that integrate 21st-century skills (collaboration, critical thinking, digital competence) with authentic EU case studies observed during the Brussels training experience.
  • Transfer real-world EU learning experiences into sustainable educational practice, through guided reflection, peer collaboration, and hands-on pedagogical experimentation within EU-related learning environments.
